They are not road legal nor are they covered as part of the power train warranty. They require you to buy a tuned ECM from Arrow Racing for the Scat Pack 2 and 3 stages. |

Talked to a friendly dealer and they told me they would have a better chance submitting a warantee claim if I had a supercharger on it.

The attachment below states in the text that the warranty is affected, and (under NOTE) a tune is required that GM does not provide...(another warranty killer)...

By looking at that kit, it looks like your going to need more pieces that just whats there. Need the cam phaser kit, AFM cover, head gaskets etc.
There was a guy here who had the kit installed at his local dealer but the thread kind of died. I wanted to see the dyno runs and if any other equipment was in fact needed. |

I went through this with the LS3 heads cam kit...
It's an awesome package, and together with the Z/28 CAI, bumped the crank hp up to around 500, and redline to 7000 in the 2014 1LE. Perfect for what we wanted to do with the car. However...GM engineers (being an OEM) have a helluva time developing a tune that will allow this parts kit to pass emissions. My guess is the story hasn't changed for the LT1 "hot cam" idea...So, it sounds like they backed off, and just put it upfront that you'll need to get your own recalibration. And of course, once you do that.....the powertrain warranty pretty much goes out the window. I don't think they're trying to screw anybody. I've spoken with these guys on multiple occasions and they'd love nothing more than to offer a warrantable calibration straight from Chevy Performance Parts. |

Would be nice if they posted the instructions with the equipment online so we can read through them and see what else may be required. |

You'll need head bolts, and head gaskets at the least, if they're not included. Truly, though...any dealer serious about selling the kit should be able to get information for you. Including an install PDF...there was one for LS3 kit floating around. |

Something to keep in mind folks is a lot of these fokks on the engineering teams, and Team Corvette and Camaro are car folks just like the rest of us. They'd love to produce an absolute street rocket that is completely dominant against all comers..but they've got a very strict set of rules to play by.
It's the legal eagles and their rolls of red tape that hold them back, not a lack of will or desire. |
