To be honest I don't know what people refer to when they say drone. I love how it sounds.

This is under acceleration-

I have a video of reving in the lot. Guy that took the video sent it to me.

Drone meaning while cruising, not accelerating you hear a reverberation or hum in your head. Can make conversation hard, etc.. dull roar in the background.

Nothing like that. When I'm not accelerating I don't really even notice there are no mufflers. When you push the pedal it makes itself known. If u get to the point where u r seriously considering this option i can take a video of how it sounds crusing.
Btw- all three dealers I've been to have said "this is how the car was ment to sound".

I just cringe alittle at the thought of chopping away at the OEM system and taking the risk of a bad weld on the cat delete. These are nice cars and a hefty price, if youre thinking of keeping this car and building it up, then why not do it right and go full aftermarket catback?
I have an A8 on my 1ss. With the afm valve in the pipe I believe a cat back would be $1800ish. I'm thinking save the valve section and replace secondary cats plus axle back I could save $800.00 or so. Although I have never had my car in the air to see if this is an option.

BTW i just noticed you spun in 2nd gear when you shift, thats probably why you get 3.9

Watch the video more closely. The speedo goes above 60 but the timer continues to run until I'm in second and accelerating. You can see it in the 4.0 video even better.

Your acceleration is smooth through first gear and then it jumps from 54 to above 60 in an instant - indicating wheelspin.

I may have an idea as to maybe why some get a cel. When I did my delete i wasn't aware that the factory exhaust diameter was 2.75". My C6 was 2.50". That being said, the muffler shops DO NOT stock 2 3/4" pipe . Only 2 1/2" and 3" pipe. So I went with the latter. The smaller tube causes you to weld inward instead of on the outside. I've seen this on every example that I've seen on this forum. I would definitely go with 3" on this deal..

I have been had mine done you wont get a cel if the pipes are welded all the way around.

I was considering this as an option as well. Hell in fact I was going to hit up an exhaust shop and just have them build me a straight pipe 3 inch all the way back with no mufflers, ditch the npp stuff but keep the tips. I'm just not too sure if I can ditch the valves going this route (which I want done).

You'll need to either tuck them up out of the way but still connected or get a tuner/tuning device to disable the CEL for the valves having a problem
