Good question!
I have an iPhone. I use google maps/Waze since Apple Maps sucks.
Apple car play only let you project Apple Maps

maybe time for a new phone. One of the big reasons I have decided to upgrade to the gen6 is for the Google maps on Android auto, paniced a little seeing so many ppl still have to put their phone on the dash. So it does work as long as I have Android.

That is exactly how it works. You can do everything with voice commands.

I just leave my phone in that little console compartment where the USB ports are. With the Android Auto software on you can't access anything on the phone itself anyway. I do everything through the informant system with voice commands. Except selecting music stations. That still has to be done through the touch screen.

Directions, when you need them, are verbal and the map is presented on the touch screen.

Voice commands are not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. This entire system sucks, especially for Apple users..

I have been having great luck with mine. It works flawlessly. Maybe it is an Android vs Apple thing.

Are you sure it won't tune to a radio station? My 2013 Cruze would tune to a XM station or even locate an artist/song on my iPod by using voice command. I would just say "Tune XM 37" or "Play artist Slipknot", etc.

Seems strange that MyLink from 3 years ago does more than current MyLink.

this, yeah, i dont get the phone on the dash anymore, you can even text message people with android auto.

Maybe they are not up on technology.

weird, because when I plug it in google maps automatically opens up on the iPhone. I can either enter address verbally thru the car or select from previous destinations and my phone starts the address and shows me the overview of the route. if I enter it on the app, then car updates with the entered address on my google maps app. even get traffic alerts that come from the Waze integration.
