Well,....

After a week of checking my car wasn't built. IF the plant was running Saturday I'll know Monday if it got made. If not it looks like I'll be joining your group Mawler!

I had a little trouble getting my OnStar remote link working but finally got OnStar on the right page. Tomorrow will be a week and unfortunately the car is here:

I figured I would update this. Long story short I still do not have the car yet.

Shortly after I was able to track my car to the Charlotte rail yard in my last post above, I saw on 6/6 that it had moved here:

Being new to this experience I thought “cool, it’s in a new spot. That must mean it’s on its way”. I quickly had my bubble burst when Laborsmith replied in the tracking with OnStar thread “Interesting. You have returned to the assembly plant.”

It was back at the assembly plant for quality inspection. Laborsmith said here Chevy does not admit to a specific issue that is the reason for a quality hold, ever. My Salesman was able to do some digging around and heard that GM received 18 to 20 torque converters that may not have been machined properly during my built week. They likely recalled my car from the rail yard to check it over and make sure it had the correct parts. While I appreciate they wanted to send the car out right it’s added some frustration.

On 6/13 the car moved slightly over to this holding area adjacent to the plant:

On 6/16 they moved it back to the Charlotte rail yard:

On 6/17 they staged it to be loaded on a train:

And that's where my car is still sitting as of right now . Saturday morning I go on vacation for a week out of state. I was hoping I would get the car before I left but it looks pretty unlikely it will make it to CA by Friday (which is 1 month from the build date exactly). Now I have to face the prospect that it may arrive while I'm gone but Vince my Salesman seems pretty on top of stuff so I'm sure it'll be safe there if it does. I may have to ask him to go home with both sets of keys every night though!

Thanks for sticking around for the read. Does anyone in Southern CA know once it's underway how long it takes for the rail portion of the trip and trucking to the dealer lately?

I notice you MAY have figured out the problem (and I believe you have) but I do not see that Chevy has confirmed it for your case. When the 5th Gen started shipping, many builds were diverted before getting to the dealer and those several that got to the dealer than retail customer had to go back to the dealer to have the battery cables replaced with slightly longer ones. To my knowledge Chevy never admitted the diverted builds needed the same repair.

Figure 10 days from once loaded on the Autorack to off loaded at the distribution railyard.

I guess well see if it turns into some kind of service campaign. I'm just happy it's not at the plant anymore.

10 days is longer than I thought it would take. Maybe it is better it leaves toward the end of the week then so I can pick it up when I return. We'll see how it works out. Thanks for the info.

I've been a little busy lately but I thought I'd come back here and update this. I picked up my car on 7/9! I'm very happy with it!

There were a couple delays because my car arrived at the trucking depot just before the 4th of July weekend, then didn't move for a few days. When it got to the dealer it took them a few days to do the PDI and install the blade spoiler. Even though I was anxious to finally pick it up I told them to take their time on the blade spoiler and it was worth it. When I first saw the car the deck lid alignment was a little off to one side and they fixed that before doing the wing so the gaps would be right.

They followed my requests to not wash it or drill any front license plate holes (which they said is their policy on all Corvettes and Camaros anyway). Vince my Salesman helped me get my phone paired and some MyLink features dialed in. He followed through checking some other things that I asked as well. For anyone looking in the Orange County or surrounding areas I would recommend Selman and Vince.

Below is the delivery path the train took to SoCal for those that asked and a couple pictures:

Here it was delivered with the 2LT lip spoiler. This is how you get it when you order the blade spoiler:

Here's a few I took after the first wash with the blade spoiler on (I haven't taken a pic of the adrenaline red interior yet):
