I appreciate the original Mustangs and Camaro's but they are antiques to me. I like the new Camaro a lot because it is now modern IMO has lots of technology and takes on a new persona. I'm a younger generation and this is who GM is targeting. Especially with with the 2.0L Turbo and 8 speed auto's/paddle shifters etc... The V6 is a serious performer now too. |

Haha, well I bought it about 17 years ago now, and if it was yours the engine, interior, wheels and the entire driveline is in a landfill now. Sorry man.

I love me the old muscle body style. But the interiors, for me, offers very little appeal.
I think that's why the Challenger holds a special place in my heart - I think it pays the most homage to classic era muscle cars while providing a 21st century interior.

Not everyone, but most guys get over the allure of the fastest new car. While I enjoy fast new cars, I prefer something with personality. A personality that new cars don't have. Something you don't see everyday. I want a cruiser. A head turner. If it's fast, great! If not, so what. It still turns heads.

Nothing smells better than a garage that just had a carbureted V8 just cool down in it

That's why this being my very first Camaro is going to be special. I will drive it with pride. And even though it will only be a V6, it's still going to be fast and that is very cool.....

Never worry about classic muscle not being cool. Those car were made with the intent to go fast within the available technology and design of the times. They were designed using blueprints and sliderules. Chalk boards. Compasses and protractors and French curves. Cast iron and steel were not only the predominant materials, they were cheap and in abundance with the multitude of steel mills all over the mid-west.
Today it's all done on high speed, high capacity computers with high resolution monitors. Notes and ideas are written on white boards. Every millimeter of the body can be sculpted to precision with 3D printing to a scale model. Aluminum has replaced cast iron as it's lighter and thus can make a car go quicker and yes, more fuel efficient. Today's cars are far safer in accidents and have tons more gadgets and bells and whistles, but that's only a result of the advancement in technology. The technology that's there today wasn't there 40+ years ago. The ideas and the intent by the engineers was nonetheless the same then as it is today - made a cool looking car sound great and go fast and fun to drive. I got to drive a 1971 Mustang GT once, and it was the only time I've ever driven a classic muscle car. If you compare it to modern cars you might as well stop driving it. But I was enjoying every minute because of what I knew the car was and still is. I should add this: when Oldsmobile released their 1949 Super 88, with the first production overhead valve V8 engine, people like Ed Welburn and Scott Settlemeyer today share the same passion those engineers had. I'm at the tail end of the "generation X" crowd and have saw a lot of what the American car culture has gone through, with a strong emphasis on hot rodding. This gen6 has me snooping pretty hard at a garage buddy for it though. Drive a car that will most likely run 11's and do it across country as a DD with a warranty, eff yeah. Plus someday I'll be pushing up daisy's and need another car so I'll have something to give to each of my kids.

This car will in V6 will be equal to the '99 WS6 TA I rode around in back in the day. That car would scare the $#!+ out of most people if driven in anger. You won't be disappointed with it being a 6.

They're still cool, but there is less thrill picking up the keys to drive in 2015
