http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...-gotten-worse/ 1 percent of American workers (660,000 50+ miles 90+ minutes, you'd be a slight outlier) join you in the joyous waste of their personal time in pursuit of the golden dollar. More info: http://www.census.gov/hhes/commuting...20the%20US.pdf Google's great. |

He let me drive his p85 from PCH and Sunset Blvd up to Sunset and the 405 freeway. If you know this area (or look on a map) Sunset thru Pacific Palisades is twisties and 45+ speed limit in some areas. Freaking amazing car to drive on a road like that, takes a bit of a learning curve because your natural habit is to brake into the turn and accelerate out of it, but with the single gear electric motor you almost never have to touch the brake pedal, the car slows down incredibly fast into the turn and sling shots out of it. the day I drove the P85 Ed also let me drive his Porsche 911 GT-3 on the same road and it is night and day driving the 2 vehicles, they handle completely different..

But this thread is not about this, so I will chase the dollar, and take long drives in my Z on the weekends. Last edited by Nor Cal ZL1; 02-07-2015 at 07:56 PM. |

Frankly, commuting is the least fun thing I do. Necessary evil, and factors into my employment decisions. Like you, I could make more if I was willing to commute further, or live in traffic hell NYC. But I choose to sacrifice a couple bucks in my wallet for less aggravation and greater personal time/freedom. We only live once. Didn't even mention traffic jams, which only compounds those numbers when they happen. |

Again, unless you plan on weekly road trips halfway across the country a Tesla will do just fine. I haven't driven 800 miles in one trip since I was in college. That's what airplanes are for. I can understand if you're going on a family vacation or something, but then you'll probably want an SUV anyway. It seems to me you're searching for situations where a Tesla wouldn't be ideal, but in almost all of those cases a Camaro wouldn't be ideal either. If you could automatically leave your house every day with a full tank of gas, how often would you fill up? That's essentially what the Tesla Model S range offers now. |
