Don't want to be a negative nancy, but at this point, with no Camaro engineering and development team in existence, any software update GM releases can only be some regulatory or policy junk that either does nothing noticeable (best case), takes away functionality (bad case) or installs more spyware (worst case).
My car stopped receiving updates in late 2019, and I'd flat out reject any new software version today. Heck, I'd still do the same even if I had the very last 2024 Camaro the factory assembled.

I've been trying to do some research on this. It seems that the Wi-Fi is separate from the OnStar module, so even with OnStar disabled, the car can still have Wi-Fi connectivity. I'd love to disable all of this crap.

I was out and about, not connected to wifi when the update notification popped up. I waited until I got home to perform the update and the car was connected to my home wifi. These cars also have 4g cellular radios so I expect that you don't need to be connected to wifi for updates.

Removing the wifi is not possible without losing other features. Though, you could stick some grounded aluminum sheets around the hcm and really kill the wifi range. But that would probably also kill bluetooth. Dont associate with any wifi and you should be fine there. Removing the cell board was easy on 2016 models. I think it remained that way. These updates though may have to do with any other apps on the car's os that access external services...or even the lawsuits it order to stop data collection. .so could be best to do the update. 2016 and i think 2017 models dont do over the air updates so....meh. I think that started with cars with the gm app store. Which we did not get. I'd have to goto a dealer and get a manual update like i had to to install android auto. |

So first, it's good to know the wifi would need a password, I've never provided one. Now, when you mention cell board, is that separate from, or part of, the OnStar module? Since wifi may not be as big of a concern as I thought, I'd like to focus on OnStar. I know there is a fuse for that, but I'm curious if the cell board is related in any way to the OnStar module.

Did everyone get this update?
Cars been parked for the winter, but drove it yesterday and decided to try this update. Nope, apparently my software from 2022 is up to date. |

My 2020 has not pushed an update recently. I expected to get this same one. My friend's 2024 SS 1LE pushed this update, and so did my 2023 Bolt EV. Maybe there is a difference somewhere between 22 and 23?
