I can't tell you how firm the sidewalls should feel. Makes me think of the hand trick to determine meat tenderness. lol

Spongy sidewall...compared to what? Every brand is different. And the SC3 has dimples for tread depth at the outer tread blocks.

Yep, the dimples are definitely there. I have been thinking about this purchase a lot. While I am convinced that the tires are new, they are just too old. D/C is from 2020. There are also dark blemishes along on the inner rim that I can't live. (shown in the first pic). I am dropping them off back at Walmart this afternoon and will buy a set with more recent D/C's.

Your pic is of the inside shoulder...look at the code on the outer shoulder. My buddy looked at the same (wrong) #.

The code on the sidewall is 0320

As visible from the above pic, 0320 is the code stamped on the inner sidewall. These tires are assymetrical, there is an inside and outside.

"This number begins with the letters "DOT" and indicates that the tire meets all Federal standards. The next two or three numbers or letters are the plant code where the tire was manufactured. The last four numbers represent the week and year the tire was built. For example, the numbers 3107 means the 31st week of 2007. The other numbers are marketing codes used at the manufacturer’s discretion. This information is for contacting consumers if a tire defect requires a recall."

I have about 24 tires or so in my inventory. All but 8 are Goodyears, mostly the SC3 or SC3R, and four are an oddball German made SuperSport R for Porsches. All the 3 and 3Rs have the seperate # on the inner shoulder that is nowhere the manufacture date (in parentheses), 0305 (0323), 0317 (1223), 0310 (1922), 0420 (1421), 2017 (3420). Some, but not all of them do have the manufacture date on both the outer and inner shoulder, in the correct spot as per the NHTSA info. I also had read that the manufacturer is not required to put the date on both sidewalls.

Thank you for the helpful feedback! Here are better pics of the inner and outer sidewalls. The first pic is the inner side wall. The D/C can't be August of 2025, so in this case would you say it's March of 2020 or unknown?

So late February production. Don’t get much newer than that!
