We don't resent our electric-powered:

Lights
Air conditioner
TV
PC/laptop/tablet
Cellphone
Refrigerator
Washing Machine
Drier
Coffee pot
Dishwasher
Garage door
Cordless power tools

But when it comes to what we mostly use for commuting to work...OH NO YOU BETTER NOT!!

I am against not having a choice I don't care if someone wants to drive an EV it is their choice and I respect it. When they try to take my choice away then I am going to fight it. One of the big reasons I am against EVs is medically I cannot fly right now (another story for another time) so I need to drive. When I visit family and relatives to reunions that is 1300 miles away in the North East having an EV will increase the time to get there by a considerable amount. Recently I took my Camaro out there for my Dad's final ride and funeral got 31 mpg at best hand calculated getting 500 miles a tank. I powered on through did the trip in 18 hours.

Next big reason I live in an apartment complex we don't have chargers and myself and other renters voted against it as well as other apartments in the area due to who would pay for it. The garage where I keep the Camaro has an outlet but it is used for the opener and other things like security cameras.

Third reason Wife and I have been borrowing a truck to tow stuff with from a family friend. Eventually we will get our own soon after I pay down Medical bills. Third party sites have proven EV towing range is extremely crappy.

Fourth reason for our daily commuter I don't really care if its EV or not and our Subaru Legacy takes that slot right now since we have no chargers. For my performance (curves straight line autocross twisty roads etc) I just prefer ICE same with trucks for hauling and towing.

EDIT: Fifth reason our grid can't support it family back east has a letter from their power provider proving that for one.

But right now Lithium battery EV are being shoved down our throat (as green) when there are many challenges. #1 Lithium. Wait until this huge transition happens and Lithium skyrockets. It will and then folks will look at Lithium mining and realize how bad that is. And then there is the Geopolitical issues, when we are reliant on another country for something as simple as transportation that’s a risk. Honestly that’s the one that scares me the most.

Next is supporting EV with the grid. Currently we don’t have the capacity. We could, but that would require building Nuclear, NG, and yes *gasp* Coal plants. The reason I say that is while NG is plentiful, it’s a huge risk only going NG when how many millions of homes rely on NG for heat.

I’ve said this many times. EVs are cool, we need something better then Lithium batteries, and if EV is the way - holy shit get off your asses and start building some power plants! That can take 5-10 years! (Not renewables, some fine but not reliable depending on where you live).

Anyways I’m sorry I just contributed to a thread that needs to die. It’ll never stop. lol
It comes to down to trying solve a man made problem by creating a new man made problem.

What runs on organic fuel and it's exhaust fertilizes the soil?

Don’t resent EV’s, at all. I’m open to owning one to replace my short commuter car, but Honda has set a VERY high bar with my ICE/CVT Accord. I can get 40+ MPG cruising @65 w/ 600mi of range (city/highway mix). 250k on it and it’ll probably do another 250. For a $22k original purchase price!

I think if you have a high mpg car, it's definitely better to stick with it. Buying a new car has a huge carbon footprint, even if it's an EV.

lol. Man you really buy into the nonsense don’t you?! And you didn’t answer any of my questions. Even if we did everything told to us it’ll reduce warming by like a few tenths in a hundred years. Pretty sure I think we have larger problems to deal with…
