Similar experience to TrackClub - I was not happy with ST-43 performance. They lasted long, but temps seemed too hot (did not measure), had pad fade, and I just didn't jive with the overall pad behavior.
Hey, great feedback. How much and where do ya source them from? And how many track days did they last?
Thanks!

Last order was $506 shipped to me from KNSBrakes. Man that hurts to write...I just paid $200 for a set of street pads and rotors on all 4 corners for my NA Miata...

To be honest I did not keep track of how many days they lasted, so I don't want to give you a random guess.

Ds1.11 is showing as $770 for a full set. Man that’s expensive. The DTCs are much cheaper...

Does anyone have any idea how much of an improvement these vented caliper pistons make and if they are worth it?
I called Racing Brake about this and they were totally useless

Thanks for that info, I may give them a try after my DCT 70’s wear out since they sound reasonable in terms of street use, but I’m not really sure what advantage they would have over the Hawks

Hopeful advantage would be less heat. Dont forget, as much as shims, vented pistons, etc may make some difference, the heat will still be generated and has to go somewhere. Those components dont reduce heat, just protect calipers a bit better. Also dont forget, that heat generated by the brakes has a direct affect on tires, hubs, etc.

So your running the vented C7 Z06 pistons? Anything needed others than the pistons themselves? I’m assuming all else is the same.

I’m with TrackClub on good fluid. I picked up some SRF, my recommendation, from Discovery Parts when I was tracking at AMP (Atlanta Motorsports Park). They had quite a bit on hand. Ron I believe, he is awesome.

https://discoveryparts.com/racecar-s...rol-12512.html

Also I’ve run my OE pads well past the center rib at VIR (Virginia International Raceway) until there wasn’t much left on the backing plate with stock 1LE ducts and SRF without issue. I’ve also run the SS cooling ducts with SRF and OE pads at CMP (Carolina Motorsports Park) and had fade. Driving style/skill and track itself all play a roll. One does need to set up the car to perform properly and without fail at your home track. I would suggest adding in a single, mid session cool down lap until you have it all sorted. It makes a difference.

Yes - but the same pistons are in all front J57 CCB applications (C6, C7, Z28). Seals are the same for CCB or non on the big fron 6-piston Brembos.

I run the C7 ZO6 calipers with the vented pistons. I rebuild my calipers with the Centric seal kit. One kit does one caliper.
Part # 143.35037

The J57 CCB vented pistons are decently cheap off Amazon if someone wants to stick them in ZL1 front calipers. Comes with the pressure seals, but, you can reuse the ones in your calipers if good. PN 19207043 (corrected, I hope). Even cheaper if you have a Delco wholesale hookup like some do.

Great to know. When it’s time for the rebuild I’ll go with the vented pistons.

Any reason to think they are not as good as the Racing Brake option which is definitely more expensive?

Also how does one check and determine when the right time to rebuild their caliper is other than when it’s already too late and It’s leaking fluid? In other words to be preventative instead of reactive?
