Say what you want about GM quality and cheap components on some models over the years, but one thing they have nailed down since the C5 days are chassis and driving dynamics. You look at any car magazine that show lateral G's and the Corvette and now Alpha chassis Camaro's are all at or near the top. With the adding of MRC and DSSV they now have cars that can corner and are composed while doing it. The Camaro more so that the C7 Vette even some can argue. They are making progress with interior materials and quality components (at least on the performance models) with each new generation.

I have a new(er) 2016 Z06 and now the 2017 ZL1, I think the interior in the ZL1 is actually nicer.. I agree GM has came along way from the old C5 days

Yep, I agree that the Gen. 6 Camaros have better interiors over the C7. Lets see what GM does with the C8. I'm sure a fully digital cockpit will be standard. However, you can still screw that up too. Have you seen BMW's new digital screens in the 3 series... YUCK

I'm not an expert but I've owned the C7 Grand Sport, C7 Z06 w/ Z07 and now 2 ZL1 1LEs (M6 & A10). I also owned the 662hp 2013 GT500 When making the switch from ZLE M6 to an auto, I considered a Z06 w/ A8 so I test drove one again just to "remember". It was not the car I remembered. The ZLE changed everything. I could not bear going back to the Z06. I know its a great handling car, but the ZLE is honestly considerably better. Having said that, of course the Z06 is lighter and can pull greater lateral G's due to its lower center of gravity and grip... BUT, the planted feel and the turn in response and overall package of the ZLE is (IMO) noticeably better than the Z06. TBD on the C8, I'm sure it will be amazing.

FORD already makes one of the greatest road cars of all time in my opinion. They surpassed the Corvette a long time ago. FORD beat Ferrari at Le’Mans 4 years in a row when Ferrari was at the top of its game. Let’s give FORD some respect. Mustang GT 500 is a great car. Let’s leave it at that and not try to micro dissect each and every measure of each vehicle.

I own a 2014 GT500. I love the car. It’s incredible for what it is and when it was made. I think we tend to understate how much the engine tech and general manufacturing tech has come in the last few years. The new gt500 will undoubtably be a great car. I only am concerned about the reliability of the 5.2 supercharged. There are many problems with the FPC configuration in the gt350. I know it will not be a FPC in the GT500 but still will be interesting to see the way it holds up under the power levels it will be at.
GM has done a more than incredible job with push rod engines and has gotten them down in a way that I would had never thought possible. The reliability from them is nothing short of incredible at the power the LT4 and 5 are producing. However the GT500 pans out in terms of specs it will be a win for all of us. We have to be honest and admit none of us thought we would see a 60s Style HP war in our lifetimes. I think we just have to all be happy that we are alive and able to enjoy this period of auto engineering. Many people missed out in the 70s and up. |

The Ford GT is out classed by some less priced cars and for the price I would take a 720s over it any day of the week. The GT500 will be a great car but once again not worth the 100k. |
