Easy fix but for some reason It feels shitty to have had to do that.

For those of you that mounted the can tot he bottom bolt on the thermostat. How the hell did you get the catch can to sit higher than the radiator hose??

Like in the picture below.

The top of my catch can has to sit below the hose that goes to the radiator, there is not enough slack in the radiator hose to wedge the catch can next to it.
I agree. Elite sucks at engineering where their can should be placed. That’s the 4th different spot I’ve seen the EX-2 can placed. They make a high quality product, then ship you a bunch of parts...usually not enough...and say have it. It’s complete BS

Seems like a lot of headache for a catch can. So what's the verdict on the catch can, is a must have mod to do?
Is the mighty mouse CC less headache to install and actually come with instructions?
If the catch can is needed I really don't want to play the guessing game with the elite can.

Funny note - when I had the shelby GT350 that I traded in on this car. The catch can literally took me two minutes to install. That's not the case here, huh??

It’s not needed as a “ must have” but they route the PCV valve up through the bottom of the SC. There are multiple pictures of oil pooling on the SC, intercoilers, and housing. That oil is being sent right into the combustion chamber. Because of this, it’s a need for me.

It’s going to be a headache regardless of brand due to the fact that the lid has to be removed, SC unbolted from the heads so that you can lift it high enough to get to the PCV, which is parked right under the backside of the throttle body. Install is not that hard but you risk breaking these bolts going back together

I hope to get mine done by the end of the week so I can live in peace when it comes to the oil being routed back into the motor/supercharger. I don’t care what anyone says, the valves on a direct injection engine will eventually get caked with carbon if this is not addressed. For $350, some cursing and a couple days worth of my time it’s worth the peace of mind.

Elite’s can is a good product, their customer service is hit or miss it appears.

I sent them a pm last night asking a question about my install and I got a reply within 3 minutes. Other people haven’t had the same experience.

Hey all,

There are several spots these can be mounted as people are showing in other posts. Even though we put our technical support and engineering email in most every post we make, here it is again. We think the issues are when people call or email sales for a technical question.

You can always email Engineering and Support direct BEFORE you order to make it as smooth as possible:

Tech@EliteEngineeringUSA.com

Sales is: Sales@EliteEngineeringUSA.com

There are some great photos from customers, and of course we have videos and other assistance.

So for all to share, Tech@EliteEngineeringUSA.com

We can provide pictures, assistance, explanations, and more. As we make 2 different series of cans to cover from stock daily drivers to 1000 HP twin turbo monsters, it is critical to contact Engineering and Support first.

Thanks!!

Elite, to help aid in the correct method of installing your catch can, you need to disclose that GM recommends that anytime the SC lid or SC is unbolted, it is necessary to go back with new lid bolts and new SC to head bolts. This is unknown by about 99 percent of those installing your can and no where in the installation instructions is that stated. The service manual spells this out in great detail. While these are not TTY bolts, they recommend changing them. This little caviat, in the instructions, would have saved a few of us the anguish of getting the can mounted and installed...and then breaking bolts as we put it back together.

Also, we should not have to figure out where to mount the can and email yall on this install when it is not clear...it should all be included into the $350 we spend on this can. Take a Gen 6 Camaro into your shop and figure out the best way to install this can...then make an instruction video and a written instruction (1, not a whole bunch), and provide that to your customers. Surely yall see there is a fundamental issue with how customers are always emailing and messaging yall on the install part. The product is great. The installation instructions are the worst I've seen. That needs to be corrected.

I did get the supercharger to engine bolts from GM parts direct. I attached a photo of my confirmation email from them. Try that part number (12679527) that’s the correct part number. The kit was shipped today so it will be here sometime next week, don’t go by the pictures (sometimes those are confusing).

I verified with the parts guy at my local dealership that this kit will come with the gaskets and the bolts.

Why don’t you go with the amazon link someone posted earlier, it’s only the supercharger to head bolts ? It’s about $20 cheaper then GM parts direct. Unless you want the gaskets as well.
Hey man...I got my bolts from ICT Billet...did you notice the head is a different size (looks like 8 MM) and they are shorter in length by about 1/8"? Just wondering. I test fit into the SC and they fit fine...but the bolt is completely different

Havent taken it out yet. Ordered the replacement bolts and will tackle it this weekend. From the looks of where the bolt snapped, I think there's about 1/4" of bolt sticking out of the head... or so I hope.

I put the car back together for the weekend. I should be getting my bolts this week in the mail. Hoping for a best case scenario of not having to EZ out the broken piece. Lol

Hopefully Elite will warn future buyers about the need to replace the Supercharger bolts. In addition, did anyone notice how hot the inlet line to the catch can gets? Just idling the hose was scorching hot. And to think, all that was going into the blower!

Fortunately, when it broke, GOD left me about 1/8" of broken bolt to grasp onto with some long angle needle nose and after about an hour of careful turns and some Knocker Loose, she was in my hand. One picture will show how much these bolts will stretch before breaking. Now I wait for new bolts and gaskets and get this bitch back together. Thank you all for all of the help and insight throughout this process!! Yall are the real heroes!

Here are some pictures. I apologize but I have no idea how to turn them the correct way.
From what I can tell, I think my bolt broke just like yours. Leaving something to grab onto. My down fall is the lack of fun tools... i get to muscle my blower out. Lol.

I didn’t compare lengths on the stock bolts to the new ones. Both sets of bolts are sitting on my bench in the garage. I will check on the lengths tomorrow.

What I did notice is that the bolts from ICT BILLET do not include Bolts with a stud in order to allow us to clip the wiring harness back on to the bolt.

I guess I’m going to have to reuse the stock bolts that have the studs on the heads so that I can reconnect the wiring harness. I was bummed about that.

If I confused anyone let me know, I’ll take pictures tomorrow when I go back into the garage.

Yes you will have to reuse the stock bolt for these ones
