After 500 miles and an oil change, I've already started to drive it like I want. Still don't wan to WOT it from a standstill, will probably wait until 1000-1500mi or so for that.

You will have stone chips after a 400 mile trip with the soft paint these cars have.. My suggestion would be to work paint protection film into the deal and have it installed before driving home. It will also look better opposed to putting the film on after you have had paint chips touched up.

Yeah, what do auto manufactures Engineers and engine builders know? People on here are smarter than them and that book in your glove box is fake info as well. Seriously though why is the break in 1500 miles for the Camaro and 500 for the Corvette? Same engine. Doesn't make sense so I used the 500 mile mark for my break in procedure.

Take US Highways home instead of Interstate Highways. You'll face constant speed limit changes and occasional stop lights. It is perfect "break-in" driving. Or you can hop on a back road and constantly stomp on it every chance you get. Pretend you're practicing mild drag or roll racing, with an RPM limit.
Break-in's today are more of a shake down than they are an actually bedding of materials like it used to be. Today's procedure is just a very gentle way of seeing if anything internal to the drivetrain is going to rattle out on you. Bringing the car to a track and drag strip for a day right after you buy it (followed by an oil change) will tell you the same thing. |

I drove mine 500 miles home after I bought it new. I used cruise control and romped on it on the on ramps when I stopped. Still going strong 20k miles later with no problems. As far as the rock chips I would suggest just being careful, be mindful and don't sit too close behind anyone.

Just drive it and enjoy and don't worry about rock chips and crap. If I stressed about stuff like that, I wouldn't even own a Camaro or nice car. It's not worth the headache.
I'm not saying you shouldn't care about your car and want it it to look great, but it's still a CAR that get driven on the road not in a bubble. I've never put any type of wrap on any of my Camaros or Mustangs and just washed them and drove them wherever and they always looked great. Congrats on the 1LE! |

Start it, let it warm up, then basically just drive the shit out of it. Don't ride or slip the clutch, but otherwise you're good to go.
If you want your car to be fast, break it in fast. If you want it to drink oil, baby it while it is trying to seat the rings. It's really up to you. |
