Evan Smith found that to be the best way go tell him he doesn't know what he is doing the most effective way is to let the car sit for a long period. it produces the quickest time. he even says that in the article lol it can be cooled down some yes. but nothing like sitting right before the line with a car cooled down for an hour and then running it. I find it gold that he even talked about it in the article and that doing that gave him a tenth. He proved me right its in black and white. sorry. Im sure you are a better racer than him and me though Think about how fast my car would go if I knew what I was doing? that just makes these cars that much more impressive that an idiot like me can buy a couple parts and run tens on a stock converter at 3700 lbs! Amazing! Last edited by ULTRAZLS1; 01-07-2018 at 06:37 PM. |

With an hour to go, we let the car cool all the way down. We gave a quick call to former MM&FF answer man “Yo” Ken Miele, who keeps tabs on who’s running quick. Ken said it’s been rumored the quickest posted time for a stock Mustang was a 12.02, he’s also heard of a new Camaro SS running 11.84 in perfect conditions. With the session ending, we dropped tire pressure to 26 psi and hopped in the Kona Blue GT. We fired the 5.0L, selected Drag Mode, turned off TC and did a short and sweet burnout. Cylinder head temp was showing 160 on the gauge after the burnout (about 20 degrees lower than the previous runs); we didn’t want to build heat so we staged, powerbraked to 2,000 rpm, and cut it loose immediately. Maybe you guys could head out with him next time and show him how to go faster since we are so dumb LULZZZ Im not saying tis impossible on a test night but ive never had the chance to run in that fashion. If it was dead its possible. It doesn't negate the results its just one of many little things that produce good results that the average person will not do. |

you said cooling the car was "not an option"...sure sounds impossible to me. Fact is Evan didnt do anything any smart and experienced t&t racer does on a regular basis. He didn't teach me anything. I have no problem cooling the car for an hour , maybe more and toggling the engine through the lanes and staging the car with head temps in the 160's... ive seen the logs. I start my car for a pass when i'm ready to pull into the burnout box. YOU'RE(just for you Blaq) right about one thing though...the average person won't do those things at the track and those guys will always run average times. |

It must kill you they put that in the article after I called it weeks before it was published and you still tried to argue with me then. im not backpedaling on anything. I called this in advance. was proven right. and you are still dancing around the subject arguing just to argue. whatever he didn't even have to wait for someone else to stage. the way it was done at that rental is the absolute most optimal and effective way to run a car. But after all that BS argue you make the fastest passes off the highway . you are talking in circles and the fact remains I called this as rental advantage and that it was probably done to produce the best time. it was. I was right. the end. |

So I guess reading above we can't consider any published media times in which the car had time to cool down. That HotRod all out effort with the 6th Gen resulting in 12:20s must really be eating at you. Amazing.

"Wild Horse Pass is an excellent track. We had careful prep on the starting line, but it was still what we’d consider a “street-car” preparation—sticky for the launch and clean down the rest of the quarter-mile. The perfect weather and fantastic surface deserve a nod, but most of the credit for the incredible times we saw belongs to the Camaro."
