And now one fog light stop working
Hi everyone. Four months ago I bought a 2017 Camaro 2SS with the ZL1 body kit.
Yesterday I was driving around and all the lights were working. Before I got home, I noticed that one side of the fog light wasn't working. Is it possible to access the fog light just by removing the fender liner? Could something have come loose, or do I need to buy a new pair of fog lights? It's really annoying to see the car with one less light working. Thanks for your answers.

I had aftermarket ones on when i got my car. They would flicker pretty much all the time. I replaced the whole bumper with an SS bumper and fog lights. You can get to the connectors by taking the lower splash guard bolts out. The assembly screws in from the inside of the bumper so if you replace them i would suggest pulling the bumper off. It's actually really easy.

Now the fourth light that keeps going out or burning out is the fog light. I'm surprised that something related to the lights breaks down so quickly. I'd rather not take the bumper apart because it's complicated and it might not be put back on properly. |

If it's the aftermarket ZL1 bumper then it's probably the Aftermarket fog light too. If you look for a factory one it will probably work better. From all my searches i found the ZL1 and the LT cars used the same fog light but the SS was different.
You never really know the whole story on used cars and what the previous owner was doing to it. There really isn't a reason the solder was broken unless someone was messing with it. Bulbs are their own thing, they can blow out from vibration or water intrusion or just because it was their time. Ive had bulbs that lasted years and replaced them with bulbs that didn't make it through the day. |

Oh man- you are so busted! Weren't gonna mention the car was an out-of-country import with obvious major repairs and most likely a salvage title (at best)? A car that you've determined has multiple broken solder connections, (perhaps from a major shock to the chasis like a collision?)
It can be done- but, IMHO, fix the light and sell that baby first chance you get. That would be your best route. I think you've got a half a '17 merged with an '18 and these cars are just too complex to expect any kind of reliability for any length of time. It may run fine for another 50K, but more likely you're seeing just the beginning. Best of luck to you though- any Camaro lover is a friend of mine.

![]() Sure, these cars are complex, but they aren't rocket science, especially in terms of basic electricals when full schematics and super detailed troubleshooting guides are available in the service manual. Also, he knew what he was buying, he had started another thread here prior to the purchase and received advice, then decided to go for it. I think we should help him as much as we can, and then he can go and figure out the flaws (e.g. for starters, getting rid of any crap aftermarket electronics that might be on the car, buying proper OEM parts and going through harnesses and connections), grind through the fixes and truly enjoy his automotive mistress. My 2 cents', as always.

I've always been a critic of any rebadged cars. This car is badged as a ZL-1 and it appears someone painted the hood to match the body color to possibly increase the likelihood that ruse would succeed. Not for resale I'm sure, but according to W.C. Fields and current events in general: "There's a sucker born every minute." I do suppose much of my response was due to lack of mention of the prior post and the poor light the current post cast on his 4-month-old '17(or '18) 2SS and the high potential for catastrophic failure in a car you have no idea of its pedigree. I sincerely hope the OP has the ability and tools to effect any and all repairs. And when the next issue arises, I also hope he or she mentions all the car's history. It will make it more likely that you and the other knowledgeable folks here on C6 to help provide an accurate fix. |
