I have had the Gen5 Z/28 DSSV front struts apart and have studied the Gen6 Multimatic DSSV cutaway pictures. Both are of a similar internal design. The grease is used inside for the insert lubrication and it is normal for some excess to be pushed out. My recommendation is to clean up all the grease from the area and remove the vent and clean it with BraKleen and reinstall. Be careful to not overtighten the vent (ask me how I know, lol). Eventually the excess grease will dwindle and you won't have anymore exiting the strut.
