All they have to do is get Grand sport horsepower, lighten weight a little bit, put some ZL1 elements in the car, then add some street tires. Why do you think 2019 camaros are using the GT350R?

There will be no Z28 this generation, what's the point of 2 race cars?
Typically it's Ford that does gradual power bumps within a generation, where GM stays put. GM could have easily responded to the S550 by giving the 5th Gen refresh a power bump for it's last two years..but why bother when the LT1 Alpha combo was coming?
For it's entire life the L99 in the 2010-2015 automatic SS was 400 HP/410 TQ. The Mustang started at 412 HP, then went to 420 HP in 2013, then 435 HP in 2015 with the S550..each time GM kept the L99 put.

The LS3 stayed the same, 426 HP, from 2010 to 2015, where the Mustang had the same jumps. Though I can't remember if the late LS3 Camaro's were rated at 430 HP following the switch over to EPS?.
