Thanks very much for the idea, I just did this too - pics in my mods link below. I used a normal nylon strap. I also used a more central bolt - if we close our trunks off center, we risk getting the paint chips near the front corners of the lid. Not saying yours is a lot off center, and it will matter, but just mentioning it.
