You can pull the NPP fuse or control the NPP from the Infotainment system setting to stay open.
If you want that "start up" growl all the time, you can get a Range AFM device to override the V4 mode all the time. Of course you can choose to keep it in "Sport" or "Track" too but I kind of like the "Touring" mode for daily driving.

NPP is worth every penny...

You will always have the startup growl as the V4 mode only kicks in when cruising. You do not need the Range AFM for the start up. Also only the A8 has the AFM on the SS models. The M6 models the AFM is non-functional.
