One could hard mount the same type of steel box to the rear floor board but this might cause some interference with the seat moving all the way back depending on the size of the box. Personally I don't like the glove box even for storing a firearm for as little as 10 min as it would take a motivated person less than 30 seconds to pop it open and be gone. Glad I live in a state that has no problems with my Constitutional rights so I just conceal carry 99% of the time and eliminate leaving the gun in the car.

I do have a spare gun box, when I get back home on Thursday I will throw it in the rear pass floorboard and see what it looks like for room.
I too live in a gun friendly state, but to cary the gun on me 24/7 is just not something i grew up doing or wanting to do...

I just now started considering getting a gun for various reasons, one is to keep it in my car. But even in the event that I need it, I'm not sure my initial instinct would be to pull the gun out. I'm highly debating both sides of the coin. Having it in my car would have to be somewhere like the center dash. Glovebox IMO is too accessible to passengers, center is a bit more "private".

We will see.
