If you have never power shifted a manual I would practice shifting a warmed up car with the engine off. Just go thru the motions with the gas pedal to the floor, stab the clutch and shift as fast as you can for each actual shift 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 .
The biggest issue is to train yourself not to lift and you have to initiate the shift.

Yep good advice but: all we ever did in the "old days" was power shift when serious about time or other car. And trust me they were long throws. Now one has a rev limiter , no? Also, miss a shift: lift right foot. In the "old days" Not power shifting when pressed for performance was referred to as Sunday driving.
But old days off show room performance to now show room, we were a lot slower even if you do not power shift. Enjoy how quick they are now because ,like before, it can go away.
Edit: As quick as they are now, I would modify my old days and keep these rides to the track, strip or very wide open roads. No red light drags as you would be all over someone just hitting second for a blink. And street racing (changing lanes) was never done in the "old days".
