I love going to the dealerships when looking to buy a new vehicle. I always feel that I am the one finalizing the deal and not the salesperson.
I just ordered a 2016 Camaro and I purchased(also ordered) a 2015 Stingray earlier this year and I feel that I was able to negotiate a fair price on both vehicles and a fair price for my trade ins.
I requested online quotes from about 10 dealers here in Florida and made about 7 physical visits to the dealerships for each of my cars.
I took my trade in with me at each visit and got a written appraisal from each dealer that I took the trade in to.
I use the dealerships for leverage to make my negotiations and tell the salesperson at each dealer what kind of a deal I can get from the other dealers. I even show them the paperwork from the other dealers.
It took me less than two hours to close a deal on the 2016 Camaro last week and about the same for the 2015 Vette this past January.
I am nice to them and they are nice to me.
I have been doing this since my first new car purchase which was a 1972 Firebird up in Michigan.
I have ordered many new cars through the years and recently have bought 2 new Camaros and 2 new Corvettes.
I also like the waiting period and anticipation for the arrival of the new vehicle that I ordered exactly as I wanted it. No one to blame but myself for the price I paid or color, options, etc. if I find myself unhappy with the car I bought.
So far, I have always been happy with each vehicle and the entire process and also have returned to these same dealers when I want another one.
By they way, I always get several email and phone call follow ups from these dealers to check on my interests in their dealership and the vehicle that I want to buy.
And, I always get back with each dealer to thank them for their time and also I tell them that I purchased a vehicle from another dealership and this wraps up the total buying experience. They understand.
Then I wait for the new vehicle and enjoy it until I want another one.
Also, I don't worry about the service part because I can have the cars serviced at any dealer. So far I have had the oil changed on my 2015 Stingray in Texas, Michigan and Florida and I have already logged 20,000 miles on it plus driving my current 2011 Camaro as my daily driver.
