I've been updated to SRE finally - evidently the sales manager was dragging his feet and my sales guy had to chase him down in order to get the build entered.

I updated my original post with the new build sheet - some data obfuscated to protect the innocent/guilty.

Yeah, I went to the dealer from whom I purchased my '14 Camaro, and told him that folks on the forums are getting their pre-orders in posting their sold build sheets. He told me that was impossible, and that he could help me out on the 13th.

Frankly, that felt like he was calling me a liar, or at least the folks on the forum liars, and I didn't appreciate that.

So I went to a different dealer, told the sales manager what happened and that I wanted to buy this car from a dealer who was as excited to sell it to me as I was to buy it. I told him I wanted somebody enthusiastic about what they're selling.

If, say, they get a new '16 Camaro brochure in full of pictures and awesome, I want a sales guy who will say to himself "you know, I bet Joe would like one of these, I'm going to call him up."

The sales manager knew exactly who to pair me with - one of this sales guys who sells a bunch of Corvettes himself, who was intimately familiar with the technology coming out of GM's performance shops, including the LT1 engine. He even started up a C7 that was in their showroom for me so I could take a listen to the LT1 with NPP - much to the sales manager's demise: "you're chokin' me out here!"

I was more familiar with the new Camaro than he was (he didn't realize that RS was no longer available on the SS models, for instance) but his attitude wasn't that of "I know everything" but more like "ooh, new info that I didn't know before, tell me more!"

Unfortunately, I had gone in at about 8pm to talk to him, and GM workbench wasn't accepting any builds at the time. He was cool, said come in tomorrow any time and we'll do it then.

So the next day I go in, and the sales guy had taken the time to go thru the entire ordering guide and online sales brochures and get up to speed with exactly what the Camaro was going to feature - including some things that the 'Vette doesn't have! (illuminated door sils, for example).

It was a very pleasant experience, and anybody is in Colorado, and are in the market for a new GM, send me a PM so I can refer you.

Anyway, TLDR: If the dealer isn't giving you the service you want, find one that will.
