I'd bet a good sum GM would let journos flog a Z06 around the track only to get a detuned car after 20 minutes. I can see that article right now.
What I am surprised by was the article that had an unnamed GM person claiming the fix was in the aftermarket recalibrations. GM, at least the GM I know, wouldn't do that in a million years. Especially when the answer was really, just break in the car properly.
Makes me think this quoted source wasn't official or didn't know what they were talking about or wasn't even an official source.
I'd bet GM never expected anyone to take a virgin car to the track and beat on it right away. Not saying it's not tempting, but I'd sure have taken a short trip somewhere just to make sure it was all sorted out.
