It appears to be working right now. 
Going to install Forza 5 now.

Don't scan codes while the game is installing. I did that and it told me it wasn't able to redeem the code. Tried it after install was over and it said the code was already redeemed. Never received my day one cars for Forza. Also the quick start guide tells you how to set up everything except for a sound system. Apparently you have to buy a digital audio cord that isn't included. Took a lot of searching to find out about the cord.
