It was just a choice GM made. BUT I can assure you GM used its internal test for luggage and convinced themselves they could put golf clubs in the trunk. The problem is what GM uses for that test are clubs from the 1960s in a canvas Sunday bag. The driver is 3” shorter than today’s and in my test, I could get my clubs in the trunk of the Gen6 Camaro IF I PUT THE DRIVER IN THE BACK SEAT.
But that is just the example of the fact the trunk is smaller. Top that off with a high lift over and yo7 have a trunk less usable than the other two players in the segment.
Now going antiquing is a new one.

also as i've said before the 5thgen was an aberration. i think there's no way golf clubs fit underneath the hatch of the 3rd and 4th gens.
