I shifted the 3160 in the GT350 (can’t imagine it’s that’s different than the DH one) and it’s an excellent shifting transmission. It feels different versus the 6060 but I don’t mean that in a bad way.

I got into a huge skirmish on Mustang6 a couple years ago on this topic. It’s a very touchy and contentious subject. My input was that I had the opportunity to drive a Bullitt for a couple days followed by a GT350 for a couple days. When it came time to give the Bullitt back I did so gladly because of how much I hated that transmission. For background, early in my career I was service engineer for GM manual transmissions, so I know a bit about them. When I started that job GM had just entered into a JV with Getrag and was manufacturing Getrag designed FWD (HM282, HM284) transmissions and RWD (HM290) transmissions at the Muncie Indiana plant.

My problem with the Bullitt was 90% with the transmission. The throws were way too long. It totally lacked decent feel. The gear ratios were not optimal. It was just bad. Then I got into the GT350 the day I gave the Bullitt back. Sa-weeet!! Short throws…click-snap detent feel…ratios overlapped nicely so that if I wanted to drive around town in 2nd or 3rd gear I could do it, but if I wanted to be in 4th or 5th that was fine too. When it was time to give that car back I tried (very unsuccessfully) to negotiate another day. After I gave the keys back I started surfing Bring A Trailer to see if there was a sneaky good deal on a GT350. I eventually came back to reality (plus first hand info from a friend on VooDoo oil consumption) and just let it go.
