Chevy recommends changing it AFTER your first track event, then every 24 hours of track use thereafter. I doubt if would hurt to change it before, but they recommend to change it immediately after the first track use. I'm guessing there is a reason for this.

In the break in section on page 199 it clearly says to change it before any track driving:
“. Should the vehicle be used for racing or competitive driving (after break-in), the rear axle lubricant must be replaced beforehand.”
