The one bolt that holds the steering wheel in place is a giant T50 torx with blue threadlocker liberally applied, so it's infamously difficult to remove without stripping. No idea why GM couldn't use a normal hex bolt or maybe three.
Removing the airbag is no biggie, I did that when I replaced the paddle switches with their red Corvette counterparts, but I'd let someone else unbolt the steering wheel (and not mess up the clock spring either

).
