A few things I noticed.
First is that they didn't compare them in the quarter mile. Suspicious.
Second is they didn't mention the actual times. They said the Base GT500 and the C8 Z51 had comparable lap times and then hint that the CF version beats the Vette. Ok but I would like to see those lap times. I'm guessing that even tho they claim the Base and Z51 times are comparable, the Z51 probably pulled a win.
Third is they claim the price is "similar". LOL!! So the Z51 which without any add-ons comes in at $64,995 while the Base GT500 is $73,995 and the CF GT500 is $92,495. But they are "similar" in price. It looks like a bunch of things were equipped on the C8 which might be why it was close to the price of the GT500. Such as the upgraded seats which is like $1500. And it looks like they had the black painted rims which is an extra $2400. The body color roof is an extra $995. I'm guessing it was the 1LT version tho. With those options added on the Vette would be like $73K.
Lastly I wonder why they skipped over the ZLE. I wonder if it's because they needed the Shelby to win at something and the only way to do that was against the Vette on a track. LOL!
So it doesn't look like any of the GT500s can clean sweep the C8 Z51. If the Base wins in the quarter mile it doesn't look like it'll win around a track. The CF might win around a track but at 11.4 it isn't going to beat the Z in the quarter. And against the A10 ZLE it the CF would probably be about tied in the quarter but lose or get matched around a track. All this and it has an extra 265 HP over the Vette, 110 HP over the ZLE, and costs about $20K more than both. I think this shows where balance gets you and how much you would need just to keep up with a very well built car.
