I can't imagine only being able to run 12° timing with 93 on that setup. Sounds like false KR. Have you tried boostane or torco to see if it will go away? That will tell you if the issue is octane or tuning.
Ideally you pull 1° for every 1 psi of boost. So if the engine was running 24-25° NA on 93, you pull 8° for 8psi. That puts you 16-17°.
Get the timing up where it needs to be and it's going to feel like a different animal.
