Carbotech XP12 Pads cracking after one track day…
2 Attachment(s)
I put Carbotech xp12 pads on the front of my LT1 and they cracked all the way thru in one track day at watkins glen… anyone else have a similar experience with these pads?
Also any other recommendations for a track pad? Im on the 4 pistons |
Interesting, never had this bad of an issue with mine. I've used many sets of 8/10/12 compounds. I would see some cracking starting at the pad surface and propagating to the backing plate vertically, but not across like in your picture.
I currently use Hawk DTC-60 pads with good success. The bite is a bit less than XP12, but overall they aren't a bad pad at all. My personal favorite is PFC 08 or PFC 11. Hard to find for the 1LE though. Some others had good feedback for Raybestos ST-43s. I have experienced parts of the pad chunking off though. |
Looks like those pads are all used up thickness-wise anyway (as far as HPDE tech inspection is concerned). Did you get them pre-bedded?
FWIW, I've found the '12' level to be less durable than the '10', but if you're going to stay with Carbotech (or G-loc) you probably want to step up to the next higher compound. Norm |
How where the temps on the brakes? Did u have the extended cooling plates and removed dust shields?
