Two 10L90 transmissions listed for ZL1’s
I was snooping around GM parts direct looking at transmission parts. I noticed they list two 10L90’s. One code 9lgj, the other 9lfj.
Does anyone know the difference? Was one for verts & the other hard tops maybe? Or one for US markets & other non-domestic? Just curious. Also, $2,700 for a new one. I really thought it would be more. |
I believe the ZLE has a different transmission pan than the regular ZL1. It’s also calibrated slightly different, but I doubt it would be a different part number for that.

The RPO codes are different starting in 2020
Other than the pan (thx for reminder Nightfall) there is no physical difference between ZL1 and ZLE transmission, but I understand there is a programing difference 2019 and earlier transmission: MGL : TRANSMISSION AUTO 10 SPD, 10L90, GEN 1 2020 + transmission: MI4 : TRANSMISSION AUTO 10 SPD, 10L90, VAR 1, GEN 1 I agree, $2700 seems cheap. |

This was listed under ‘19 model year. Maybe early & late model year. Might have to check my build codes to see which one mine has. |
Slight gearing difference on the ZLE.

the 20 up has a different filter
I didn't know there was a gearing difference............ I thought they were the same this is what i have in my notes for the A10 in the LT4 cars Final Drive: 2.85 1st: 4.70 2nd: 2.99 3rd: 2.15 4th: 1.80 5th: 1.52 6th: 1.28 7th: 1.00 8th: 0.85 9th: 0.69 10th: 0.64 Reverse: 4.87 |
I was shopping for an a8 and they were cheap too... until you add in the required core charge. I don’t remember the number but it was up there and made the price make more sense.
