Whipple 3.0 is live

Looks like it's a go! I am probably not upgrading anytime soon since I am nowhere near the limits of my 2.9 but I am looking forward to seeing the results on some of the bigger builds that will make the swap!

Wow, good to hear. Should be able to make some major steam. I'll be interested in results also. Its worked well on the 5.0s and mopars, don't see any reason why it would be any different on the Lt motors.

Called today and they said LT4 specific one is 90 days out and that it will fit under stock hood and not require coil pack relocation. I was considering going 2650 but might wait and make this my winter project!

This is going to be a seriously tough decision. The 2650 has proven to be amazingly good and capable of 1300 WHP or more. But this looks epic too. We really need a head-to-head comparison on a serious build with max effort fuel system, long block, etc.

Thanks for the info. Really looking forward to see the results on the ZL1. I am running the Mag 2650 on my C7 and would like to do a different PD blower on my ZL1

I know that some will want to do the Whipple, but the 2650 has proven itself over the last 4 years so I'd want to see some real numbers and not just on a dyno. Track times, IATs etc. Biggers not always better in blowers, I would say that they have done a lot of homework on this one and it will be very competitive when it comes to making power. I'd think it will be hard to get as new stuff always is, right now a 2650 is 8 to 12 weeks out so be prepared to wait a while for a new blower like this one. Its not like the old 2.9 as it has similar rotor pack to the Eaton 2650. Should be a beast.

That's good to hear...more options. I had always heard the 2.9 and the 2300 were pretty comparable. So maybe Whipple is catching up now in technology.

If they offer port injection then the motor can stay untouched. Basically just turn up the boost and make sure your tires can keep up

They offer provisions for the injectors, but you'll still need the injectors, low side pump strong enough to supply fuel to them, and something to control them. Basically it saves you a few hundred dollars over needing to buy plates to hold the injectors on a Maggie 2650.

Based on what we've seen on the Mustangs, I don't expect the 3.0 to make anymore power than a 2650. They supposedly have a 3.8 coming, that will be the one to push things further.

Awesome
Yeah the 3.8 probably wouldn't be for streetable cars right ?

Well, people have varying opinions on streetable, but Dustin Whipple did tell me it won't fit under the stock hood and will be intended for "race applications". At what will need to be over 1300 RWHP to be what they say, a drag strip is the only proper place to use it anyway, and maybe driving to a car show. Haha.

asthmamax11 08-05-2022 02:25 PM

Haha amazing

KingLT1 08-05-2022 02:40 PM

Be nice to have a thread without the 2650 leg humping. This is about Whipple 3.0 discussion, not if it's as or more capable then a 2650.
