Cover for Intake Behind the Grille

I’ve seen this get questioned a lot - about the intake tract cover just behind the grille. There are a few pictures floating around of the cover; since I had my fascia off this weekend, I figured to snap some details:

First two pictures need to be rotated 90 clockwise (phone pictures).

I took it off recently when I had my front bumper off. I have no idea if there was any tangible benefit from doing so but, eventually I'm going to address that area.

So cut the black plastic panel out?

I too would be interested in modifying this area... are you saying there is some kind of baffle inside there that can be removed or modified.. I would love to see exactly what going on in there before i take it apart |
Revised the pictures with some killer paint skillz. Added reference marks (red [cover] star and blue [intake] star/lines) and also added a reference picture of a car without it's whole fascia.

Has this been proven to get more air in? My car is going in for a cam install and while it is apart I can have them pull that off if it is beneficial.

Yeah, there's really no advantageous way to address this. But I think we can come up with something.

For my Mustang, they sell the Velossa big mouth, which is just an extension from the airbox through the grill. People use it for lower AIT.
