Sliding panel broke

I use my top ALOT. Some days I will cycle my top 6x’s. I’m know that this issue has happened to others. I had no warning. No weird noises.

Not sure of the precise part name but the piece that slides on the metal track that pushes the plastic panel that hides the top mechanism when the top is down broke. This caused the panel not to retract when I tried to put the top up. The panel then popped the top plastic piece behind the drivers seat and broke the sliding panel.

Going to the dealer tomorrow to order the pieces so it can be repaired. Not sure why it did not retract. I had no idea it was happening since it was on the drivers side until it was too late.

Not sure if you read thru this thread:

My issue was the panel did not break but would not open. Was like that from when I first bought my car earlier this year (it was a leftover 2017, purchased new in Feb '19).

This is the link to the TSB which does indicate potential for parts breaking:

Good Luck!

Does anyone have the part number for the plastic piece that slides along the aluminum rail? It's the one that actually moves the plastic door.

Yes

Does anyone have the part number for the plastic piece that slides along the aluminum rail that also would like to share that information with me?

I trust it is not molded into the part...

The closest I could get is the tonneau hinge, but it’s not clear that it comes with the cover. Might be worth a stop at the dealer parts counter or a call to that gm parts guy.

Went to the dealer and was told that this has happened enough that there is a TSB for it. Also, there is a “kit” they ordered. When it gets replaced I will post the info from the service invoice.

Good deal, thanks... will be looking for it.

Did your top get stuck in the up or down position? Looks like down but want to confirm...

SOB, 2nd time in 13 months.

Just happened, put the top down and there is a gapping hole, the sliding panel stayed stuck (been telling these dealers it makes noise, oh that is normal), so pulled it back, hoping to avoid a dealer visit, and it began to pull up the panel. Good times.

Guess I will have them look at the squeaky front brakes and jolting transmission issue.

Anyone have a TSB on the brakes issue?

I had the driver side replaced this week. I asked the tech why the window regulator would possibly need to be replaced. He explained that the extra clip added to the newly designed trim panel attaches to a slot in the regulator and earlier version regulators did not have the slot. The entire repair took less than an hour. Kudos to McLarty Daniel Chevrolet in Springdale, Ar for a great service experience!
