Careful with dealership maintenance!!
Well long story short, I needed to change my ZL1s oil prior to last weekends track day. Called my local dealership and specifically asked if they had the 0W40 Supercar oil in stock. They said they did have a lot and I had them hold the appropriate quantity for me. Went to pick it up and sure as shit, "European Formula". I told them it was the incorrect one, and they insisted that is what GM is sending to them for our cars, even had a tech supervisor come and tell me the same thing. I asked them if i was to bring my car in for a standard oil change if that is what they are being directed to use, and they insisted YES. Said they couldn't get the "Supercar 0W40" in. On my drive home I ordered 2 cases that showed up the next day on my doorstep. WTF GM!!!

The European formula is recommended because of a higher Zinc content USA oils are being pressured by the government (EPA) to remove a lot of the additives from there oil. GM requires Dexos1-Gen3 0W-40 but many of the "Euro" formulas that meet MB229.51 and VW50400/50700 seem to be superior and meet/exceed Dexos1-Gen3.
