Should I be worried about redlineing my car

My car is a v6 with the LFX engine and it has 105,200 miles on it but I do take care of it oil changed at the recommended intervals, coolent topped of. Etc. Should I be worried about redlineing it?

The short answer is NO. But the long answer is, well...yes. I have hit red line on many hot rods, many times over a few decades. I have driven big blocks, small blocks, 3, 4,5 and 6 speed manuals. I have never blown an engine or transmission and I have driven the piss out of my cars.

But it's all about whether or not you sustain redline. Don't do it. Hit it and back off.

Just my two cents.

I do it about once a month in my 2LS which has the auto trans. Keep in mind you have the manual trans and it's not very robust so no 5000 RPM clutch dumps but the occasional trip up over 6 grand is very therapeutic for both you and the LFX.

Does the computer shut it down when you hit or go over the redline?

There is a rev limiter if that is what you mean.

OP, RPMs are what kills engines in the long run, but they can survive quite a while if you keep the oil changed and don't create an oil starvation situation. In other words, your engine will last longer if you never run it at high rpms, but where is the fun in that.
