Good or Bad choice??

So I went out today and the fob would not connect to my 2013 SS
Tried a new battery still nothing. So went to the Stealership aganist my better judgement. Got a new or used who knows. Anyway the total was 165
which included programing. Good or Bad..

Question and i should have asked them anyway. Wasn't there a recall or something to do about the switchblade fobs on that model. What is the fix
separate key and fob? If so i don't like that switch. Is there a place on line I can send this fab and keep using the switchblade .

are u asking for a replacement switch blade? there are lots, can't remember where I got mine but I can track it down later on.
the recall was they took your switchblade and gave u a key and a fob, I got one of those keys with the fob built in but I hated it so I ordered a switchblade online.

I tried to order one and they canceled my order told me I had to be a locksmith or something like that.

The recall is where they remove the switchblade and give you the FOB back with a standard key. I had it done w/o realizing what was happening and I was less than thrilled with the result.

I bought a used OEM FOB w/ a new blade on eBay from a seller who sold quite a few. I also bought a different type of FOB (other posters mentioned it - has a little more modern look but it's cheap feeling IMO) off of Amazon. Took both to a local local locksmith who cut them for $20 total. So grand total was under $75.00.

That is pretty cheap. Locksmith down here was charging $40 ea. IIRC.

Whether the factory fob is worth the extra money is subjective. They definitely last longer and work better. I think it's the Chevy logo that makes the difference.

I had two new switchblade fobs made at the dealership in South Florida a few years ago. They asked if I wanted to do the recall and I told them no. They had no issues with it and gave me two new fobs with the switchblade. Of course though it was pricey but it was worth it to me.
