Wheel & Tire Question

So I've been debating on getting the MRR MO17 1LE Replica wheels. I'm in WI and want to continue to run all seasons for the cold weather driving I do. In looking into this a bit this is what I'm thinking. Before I purchase this stuff I want to make sure I won't run into any issues.

I am currently running the OEM tires sizes but have the DWS 06's
245/40ZR20 (front) and 275/35ZR20 (rear)

So my plan is to dismount the rears and put them on the 20x10 MRR Wheels and put them on the front. Then get a new set of DWS 06 for the rear in 305/30/20's and mount them to the 20x11 MRR Wheels. I'll just get all new TPMS units since mine are original and probably start dying soon anyway. I should be able to use the Chevy center caps on my wheels right?

I don't know if there is anything I'm not thinking about? Not sure with those wheel sizes I'd even need to more the wire harness?

Your wheel and tires sizes should be good, but you'll want to make sure you get the right wheel offsets.

I have 20x11 rear wheels with ET43 20x10 fronts with ET20

I am not sure if the 6 piston front brakes have a lower/higher ET though. I think they are supposed to be the same. within 20-25mm if I remember right?

Edit: I'm not sure 275's on the front is the best fit, I have 275's on my 20x10 fronts, and the tire sits back from the rim. Normally on 1LE's they have 285's on the front.

If you look at this image of my car, and zoom in on the front bottom tire, you'll see the rim lip I am talking about with 275's.

Ya, I did pose the question to wildhammer as well and they suggested what you did.

(From WildHammer)

Hello and Good Morning!

For those set of wheels, we suggest the factory sizing for a SS 1LE/ZL1 which is a

285/30/R20 Fronts
305/30/R20 Rears

These will still clear all suspension components and would provide clearance as far as fender and ride height.

Hope this finds you well!

Forgot to ask as well.... Black Lugnuts.... I don't want the gorilla style lugs, nothing that requires any kind of special socket to get them off, locking etc. I just want black lugnuts same as the OEM style that are on the car now, just black. What is the best ones to get?

Ya, next time I go to replace the front tires I'll get 285's.

I'm getting quotes right now from a couple of the local wheel/tire Custom shops. So far it looks like I'm better off just ordering everything from WildHammer and TireRack my self and then having a local shop mount/balance them.

Only thing I'm not sure on is lugnuts. Both the shops I'm getting quotes from only sell the gorilla style that need some special socket to get them off. I want just standard lugs that will fit that are black that require no special sockets locking keys, etc...

You don't have to get locking nuts, but know that MRR's wheels have smaller diameter lug recesses, so you'll need lug nuts with a smaller outer diameter bulge, stock lugnuts won't work. This is why shops want to sell you gorilla lugnuts that fit these wheels. Kinda sucks, but it's good to know in advance.

That's what I did. Ordered wheels from bbwheels.com bought tires from discount and had them install.

So I ended up contacting MRR directly and they said these would work...

I was going to plan on ordering these. I sure hope they know their own product. If these won't work, maybe I'll just get the gorilla ones?

One of the local shops ended up coming back cheaper. Wheels/Tires/TPMS mounted & balanced and shipped to my front door. Think this is the route I'm going to go.

Wonder if I can get anything for the current ones I have. Probably not much. I just don't want to keep them around as I have no use for them and they'll just take up space in my garage that I don't have a lot of room for. Suppose I can just throw them in my storage unit. But they will never get used and eventually just rot.

Yeah, these 19 mm ones should work. Stock is 22 mm IIRC.

Throw them on the classifieds on here as someone is always looking for tires and rims. Won't cost you anything and you never know if a member is looking as spring is around the corner.

Nice...I think I'm set then, just need to get everything on order. Just deciding if I want to do it now and throw everything in the garage or wait till I get my car out of storage and then order everything. I think I'm leaning toward now. Been debating this purchase for sooooo long... lol

Ahh... Good idea, I always forget about the classifieds on here. Thx!

Just one more thing to consider, even though you're already doing a different plan than your first post: the 275/35/20 you currently have in back is 27.6" tall. If you moved it up front and then ran 305/30/20 in back, you'd have 0.4" taller tires up front. That would look weird (the difference doesn't sound like much, but it's visible) and it might even cause the TC/ABS to have a hissy fit. The 1LE wheels sizes and tire sizes are a solid plan. These particular MRRs have the exact rear offset needed. Up front they have 3mm more offset than a stock 1LE. That shouldn't be a problem at all if you don't have Magride shocks. If you do, they will still probably clear, but there's a chance you'd need a 3mm (or thereabouts) spacer. That's fine, as you can safely use up to 5mm with the stock wheel studs.

Yes... I do have Magride... I don't want to sound to stupid but what is the best way to tell if this is going to be a problem? I would imagine with the car on the ground reaching in behind the tire to see if it's hitting anything?

As mentioned I'm going to be running the DWS 06 All Seasons... Do you think it would still be a good idea to get the ZL1 Rock Guards? I know a lot of guys do, but most of them from what I see run the sticky summer only tires.
