D1X question.
Purchased a D1X procharger and wanted to know at what point you start seeing boost? I got it for the hp capability but will like to start boost around 4k rpms. For mods I got drop in piston and rods with lower compression, e85, btr intake full exhaust, stage 3 cam, headers, full exhaust, dsx aux fuel pump, lt4 injectors and getting hpfp.

4k is were you will really start feeling it.
I have a very similar build but with a D1sc and she gets off the line pretty good but right around 4k is where the power really starts to hit all the way to redline.

D1x doesn't build boost as fast as a D1SC. Generally speaking, with a 4" pulley you might see 3-4psi at 5k rpm and 13psi by 7k. Where the D1SC might see 5-6psi and 10psi up top. The D1x really starts to ramp up above 6k rpm.

If that's true that would suck. Car redline at 6.5k. Only 500 rpms on full boost?

Your redline should be set higher than 6,500 rpm with a cam upgrade. If full boost at lower rpms was your goal, you should have gone with a positive displacement blower set up. D1X likes to be spun as King mentioned.

If you are only going to spin the engine to 6500rpm I would simply pulley down your D1x so it makes boost quicker. Then you simply limit peak boost by reducing RPM.... Or rev it out higher. A stage 3 cam D1x setup should spin to 7200 rpm imo. A friend of mine put one on his car it wouldn't make shit for boost until 5k rpm. So he pullied it down and lowered shift point. But he only did that because it was on the stock bottom end. Even the P1x doesn't really start making boost until like 4200 rpm. We gained 2-3psi from raising shift points from 6100 rpm to 6700rpm. Went from 7 psi to 9-10psi.

My experience so far with the new d1x
At 5k with a set point of the blower 55000 at 6500 rpm makes about 11.5 to 12 psi,at 5k. 4 k is making like 7 pds. I forgot the lower numbers off hand. It will make about 19 or so with a stock cam spinning that blower speed at 1000 ft elevation da about the same.. 8.25 lower 3.85 upper. 3.6 upper moves it up to about 13.5 14.5 at 5k and about 21 or 23 at 6500. It makes the car stupid fast. I was following a car on 4 lane and I just touched the throttle a little to pass and almost hit the other car it accerlates so quick. Kinda scary for me. My wife dont like it at all. Last edited by Kerry; 02-13-2023 at 08:54 PM. Reason: mistake its 4k not 3 |

I dont remember exact numbers but at around 5500 its 8-8.5 psi up to 10.5 psi at shift @ 6900 rpm. So avg boost around 9-9.5. Im thinking 10-10.5 psi avg boost might start hitting high side (LT4) fueling limits w/E50. Im already pushing the high side fueling pretty far on my relatively tame setup. Would strongly consider aux port inj or bigger injectors.

I think you will like the D1x. I would wait to see how it responds and adjust with pullies/rpm if need be. It's a very capable unit!!

I recently purchased a D1x and it's going on a SBE like your friends. What pulley setup did he go with when he pullied it down? I am looking to downsize the pulley for the earlier boost and 6500RPM shift point. I will get the pistons/rods/heads/cam/extrasawce as I go along, but this is where I am at currently and don't want the so called "boost lag".
