Winter Storage
So, what's the consensus out there for storage? Better to put the car on blocks allowing the dampers to sit for extended period at full extension, or to do nothing and let the car sit on its tires?
Personally, I prefer to get the weight of the tires, but in the back of my mind, I'm thinking I'm in some way not being kind to the struts and dampers. |

I've always kept my cars on the ground. This one will be as well. I put carpet under the tires, hook up the Battery Tender and that's it. Of course, it's covered.

This is a good subject to bring up. I’ve always left my cars sitting on the tires, but they do get flat spots. Some tires come out of that quickly and some don’t smooth out. I agree with the car cover and battery tender.

I don't have a Zl1, but I've stored my SS over 5 Cleveland winters by over airing the tires a few pounds above normal, and setting up the battery tender. No flat spotting issues that I have seen. I've never used my car cover, nervous about scratching.

You definitely don’t want to keep vehicle weight on the suspension and put it on a battery tender like the Ctek. I plan on driving through the winter, but need to buy one since my car sits a lot. It turned over slower than usual today.

I put her up on the quick jacks and pull the wheels/tires off. Then, she gets covered & stored in the CarCapsule + battery tender. Before doing so, I always top off the fuel tank and add sta-bil fuel storage additive to it. I also put dryer sheets throughout the interior & add a couple moisture collectors to ensure She’z good for the next few months. I tend to go overboard to say the least.

I winter stored my Camaros for the 10 years I owned them when i was in the Peoples Republic of NY. Never had an issue with flat spots. Aired the tires up to about 38-40, Stabil in full tank, and put on battery tender. See ya in 5 months. But I'm so glad I fixed that problem in 2019.

Ideally, you want the damper in full compression. The more of the shaft is exposed, more pitting and contamination can occur on the shaft and damage the seal when you start driving again. That said, 6 years in, I haven't had any issues with mine. I just inflate my tires to 40# and put on the battery tender.

The F would you buy a $309 for 4 chunks of plastic vs a little over inflation of your tires.

Because genius, your tires cans still LOSE air even if you over inflate them. Ever hear of slow leaks? I'm sure you're the type of person that has never bought ANYTHING "dumb". By the way, it's high density foam, not plastic and I'm pretty sure 309 dollars is cheaper than replacing all four tires no?? You're MORE than welcome to visit that website and tell the hundreds of others that bought them how "dumb" they are too OR you can just let people do whatever they want with their cars and stop being judgemental??? For example, I don't care what you do with your car, but would appreciate any info that you have or could have that MIGHT benefit me or others. If not, then you dont need to say anything. Think next time you post.
