which cold air kit is best ? anyone try creative motoring cold air kit from ebay?

They claim 11 rwhp,
26 ft-lb Torque and
up to 4 MPG Increase in fuel economy.
I want the most power regardless of price. Want to upgrade soon, what are the top 3 brands to buy ? This seems reasonble at $395.00 , but is there a brand or kit that gives way more bang for the buck even up to say $550.00 ?

Is this the one you saw?

CAI have been discussed a lot in here. If I were to do it again, I doubt I would’ve bought a RotoFab. There’s nothing wrong with it but so many others have modified the stock air box with similar results.

These links cover a lot, but not every possibility.

I've always run RotoFab since 2008 when I had my G8Gt NA and then SC. Since 2015 I've had it on all my Camaro builds. Rotofab Little Gulp (my name for it) and Big Gulp and now again on my 2022 NA and switching to a blower again so Little Gulp on my 2300.

RotoFab on my ZL1 and a Cold Air Inductions CAI on the 2016 2SS I used to own.

What engine, the v8? If so maybe 6 hp from a rotofab. None really make any power as the stock box, with the stock power level, is pretty good. Better sound and response though. If the engine is a LT4 then it will make more.

my car is the ss, 6.2 not supercharged, all stock. Looking for just a couple simple bolt ons at the moment.

If you want a bit of engine bay bling, go for a Rotofab standard (not big gulp) and disconnect the battery before you touch the MAF.

Without a tune, nothing you can do to the car will improve anything other than sound and appearance. Most things -- particularly no-tune-bolt-ons -- will make your car perform worse; Rotofab being one of the few exceptions.

With a tune, the sky's the limit.

Op,

I would suggest you do your own research and draw your own conclusions. Don't always believe what you see on the box. Look up testing results and decide on your own. What are you looking for? HP or Torque?

For example: I realize rotofab is the platinum standard, but has been tested to produce 0 HP gains, but did produce torque gains vs a stock intake without a tune. Lethal Garage on youtube tested this.

Where as the CAI I use, has been tested to produce up to 9hp with a tune.

In my case, I wasn't convinced $500+ for a CAI was the way to go and I was chasing HP not torque.

Last bit of vindication I can give you regarding K&N Typhoon CAI. It is cheaper than Rotofab and my tuner even told me, "You have a mean intake." Note: I never asked him about it, it was a comment my tuner made on his own. That being said however, it could be the combination of parts that work in tandem with my CAI that contributes to the effectiveness.

Then 0-5/6 hp gain. That’s what Jannetty racing got and was a thorough realistic dyno and road test. If you put the car on a dyno and do the std three pulls you could get any number, but computer will relearn and adjust back to stock hp or a just a bit more without a tune.

Rotofab has been proven to produce gains at the track on a stock tune. It was worth a tenth. Testing CAI on the dyno is kind of pointless since there is no air pressurization. Stick your hand out the window on the dyno vs driving down the road at 50+ mph.

Ideally you should tune any CAI but the RF for the most part seems to work the best with the stock tune vs others. That is because if the diameter of the tube that the maf sensor is bolted in is different than stock by the slightest amount it throws off the calibration. Larger will make the car run leaner, smaller will make it run richer.

Moral of the story, if you don't want to tune get the RF...if you are getting a tune, then most CAI's would probably work fine. I would avoid any CAI with a metal intake tube as that just absorbs heat. Does the factory use metal?

CSP saw something around 20-WHP, only upgrading from the standard to a Big Gulp, with literally no other hardware changes, all SAE for any corrections. That was 760 to 780

On a modded LT4 yes. On a Stock LT1 no.
