Which do you guys recommend I obviously have the l99 should I go for the ls3 conversion or keep the vvt? What are some pros and cons I’ve heard the vvt cam supposedly has a better power curve so I may be leaning a little more towards vvt.

That would be a good question for the guys at GPI. Probably wont be too much difference between them being at that level.

If I still had my L99 installed I would go for the SS4 VVT. I just don't see the reason to get rid of functional VVT. The benefits are just too obvious. Some people will claim 'more reliable' to go LS3 conversion, but you will have to search far and wide to find many phaser/VVT related failures.

I guess the main benefit I can think of going with the NFC (aside from higher lift/duration of course) is you can probably get it in an 8620 grind, while you cannot on any of the VVT grinds. But if you aren't worried about cam wear/hardness...well, that's not really a huge problem we deal with here either. I only got the 8620 grind because it was only $50 more and it made me feel better on the inside. Plus it looks cool with the copper between the lobes/journals. I think in my head I was thinking that if I ever spin a lifter that I will have a slightly better chance of the cam making it out alive and can also maybe avoid pitting due to the superior heat treatment of the 8620.

But back to reality....take a look at the Camaro 5 fast list. VVT dominates. I absolutely love my LS3, but as soon as I can afford it I am rebuilding my L99 forged and with VVT. Because why not?

I had my phaser limiter break but luckily we found it before it did any damage. I was replacing my cam with ss4 when i found it and replaced it

I had a ticking vvt lifter, spoke with Kip at Cam Motion, discussed my goals and went with the 3 bolt LLSR cam, Frankenstein heads and Circle D 3600 stall. Didn't lose anything down low, actually felt more, and gained a lot of mid-high end HP/torque...but it's not my daily driver and I'm literally, old school.

Did a few things to the suspension, went with 17" Welds front/back for rotating weight reduction and M/H DOT approved slicks for the strip.

For me, I had a plan and Kip directed me toward phase one of my goal, stroking to 416 is phase two, hopefully soon.
