Summer Tires & Traction Question

Bone Stock with no Plans to Modify - Can the MP4S hold stock power under full throttle spirited driving or will I need to upgrade to a more Streel Legal Drag Tire for the Summer

The Michelins should be okay but you might consider a drag radial for the street. I have GY F1s on mine and they are okay in the summer and not that bad in the fall when the weather starts turning cooler.

On a roll run from 70 mph they will hold in the right conditions. Summer, dry, etc. You have to be alert though.

I have them on my 17' ZL1 A10 and I'm living in Fort Worth,TX ,when the weather is at 45-48 or colder it does not grip at all. I only have a RotoFab and if I do a roll from 70-80mph it will slip until 90mph pretty much. I have 305/30/20 at 33psi. In overall I think they are good, especially on rainy days. Can't tell about another season since I just bought my car 2 weeks ago lol.

You won't have problems in 65-70 degrees and above if you put a little heat in them. I don't think you can smash the pedal from a dig, the stock 550-570 rwtq is too much for that, but I have no problems in 20-30 rolls. I had Toyo R888R's at one point, but their whine and hum drove me crazy. The Continental ECS is also a great overall street tire praised by many, but I don't have firsthand driving experience with that.

As others said, you have to be careful in the cold, but this applies to all ultra high perf summer street tires, doesn't it. Wet traction and hydroplaning resistance with the PS4S is the absolute best.

The Whine is that bad - Many people have said the same thing - I was thinking about those - they come in the 345/30-19 size I want

Nitto 555r2 DR...all you need. Will have great traction, decent handling, get you home in the rain, and still offer decent tread life. I don't think they will wear much faster then Super car 3's honestly with 6/32 tread depth. Most think Drag Radial will be a spongy soft side wall tire that wags at high speed and wears out in 3k miles. That is true with Mickey Thompsons, but that is not the case with the 555r2. Imo if you don't drive in inclement weather and not chasing track records at Willow springs, it's the only tire to run on these cars if you want to be able to use the power in 1st and 2nd gear.

Exactly...all I have is a RF intake and I cannot find traction until fourth gear (manual) but it is a friggin blast getting there

If you're just driving around town and occasionally racing at a track, the MPS4S is the best dry/wet tire you can buy.

If you're just driving around town in the dry and wet and also racing at a track (but only in the dry), you'll need two sets of tires like I have.

Summary: The MPS4S is great for dry and wet street and track. A drag radial such as the 3R is awful on the street particularly in wet but great for dry track.

Thanks - I see they come in 345\30-19 for the rears what do you run up front?
