New to 5th Gen Camaros...first mod?

Hi gang. New to the site and new to the 5th gen Camaro. Recently traded my 09 GT Mustang in on a low mileage 2013 SS/RS L99.

Limited budget but eventually want to get to the following:
(In no particular order.)
CAI
Cam
Exhaust
Tune

I burn premium and did the fuse pull the other night. I felt a difference, not huge but enough to know it did something good.

Looking for recommendations on all of the above. I did some research on these but wanted to get the input from some of you veteran Camaro owners.

Thanks in advance.

Assuming you can't afford to do it all at once, I'd put the exhaust on it and either tune it or get a Range device to turn off the AFM.

It will sound HORRIBLE with the AFM functioning with a cat back exhaust. At least that is my opinion with my Borla S-Type cat back when I had to drive it for two days with the Range device removed in order to pass state inspection.

Headers intake tune...… Ditch AFM, ever go cam your pulling the heads to ditch the AFM lifters which bite and doing a convertor ...so more easy gears and like 1/5th the price. And BTW the "Suitcase" resonator is ugly as hell and the cross over and replacing it with a simple H pipe is often done but it helps the rotten rattle of AFM …… Owned a l99 first here.. If you go cam you have to change out springs at regular intervals (25k area);if you go to better lift unless you stay low like the hot cam or better yet the ASA cam.

I have never liked the AFM stuff. I understand the reasons for the technology but for my performance cars - not. It surprised me when I learned GM did it for these cars. It's sounding like I need to deal with that first, right out of the gate.

I think there's a sticky on here about it; if not do a You Tube or Google search and it'll come up.

Basically, you fill your tank with premium (93), pull fuses #5 and #20 for a couple hours and then reinstall them. This resets your computer to burn on premium and gives you a tad more HP. (About 8hp I guess.)

i don't have a auto..
i did cat back first then vararam OTR cai and a throttle controller.
i was going tune but i i'm thinking headers then tune so i don't pay for a re-tune??
are you doing you own labor????
i actually think you should do long tubes, cai and have the afm deleted.
a cam would be the last thing i did especially if your not doing the labor and i would try to keep from having to change the converter being budget minded..
guys what is the average cost to pay for headers, cam, cai and tune installed. anywhere from 2500 to 4k???

Im not going to question whether this works or not, but Im pretty sure if you just put premium in all the time, the fuel tables will change on their own. This would really only be something you do if you switch back and forth between fuel grade. Everyone will have their own opinion about it, but i just keep premium in my tank.

My son-in-law may do a lot of the labor. He's a chevy guy and one hell of a wrench. I am definitely going to deal with the AFM BS.

Yeah, I get it. Is this a theory that grew legs on the internet or is it a viable little trick? I have seen dozens of anecdotal testimonials but haven't seen one actual before and after dyno.

But...it was easy and free so I did it. I do seem to have better throttle response in the Billy-Bad-Ass mode though. (First click.)

Don't listen too all the AFM nonsense here. I put on the Solo Axle back Exhaust
on my L99 SS when I first got it. Great muscle car sound without any drone
at any RPM. Nothing you do to your exhaust will give you a huge HP
increase so it's the way too go imo. Good luck with your new Camaro.

I just ordered aluminum paddles from this company. I'll definitely look into this unit. Thanks.

Thanks. I'll check it out. I was also looking at a Rev 9 system. I had that on the 09 GT I just traded it. Made it sound pretty bad-ass and it was relatively inexpensive.
