Vent Air Temperature

Tested the vent temps tonight, very disappointed in the results. Car was fully warmed up driven 20 miles then parked for 10mins. At restart temp of air coming out of the vent was over 150 degrees slowly dropped over a few mins to 100 then took 10 miles of driving to get down to 80 degrees and never got any lower. Ambient air temp was 60.............this is so messed up I'm surprised no one else has ever complained about this.

The center console below the gages never gets below 120 degrees EVER! I'd laugh if it was funny but its the worst piece of engineering I've ever encountered in a car. But what really frosts me is its GM car! I'd expect something like this from a cheap import but from a car of this cost. UNACCEPTABLE GM!!!!!!!

I will be installing a shut off valve shortly!

The A/C sucks in these cars. The worst i have ever seen. On a 90+ day you need to be on the highway with it in recirc to get it cool.

Easily fixed with a shut off valve on the inlet heater hose. I'll post pictures when I'm done.

I wonder if there is something wrong with your system? Mine has no problem cooling at 100*

Mine gets cool too but it never gets freezing yer butt off cold until I block off the heater core water inlet. Then even on low its nasty cold.

The A/C in the camaro isn't the best. But, it does cool. Even here in FL and near 100degree temps. Although I do wish it would get a little colder.

Now your talking. This car is always giving off heat through the dash. It'll get cool...but not cold. Good thing I live up north.

Never experienced this. Mine seems as cold as any other car I've owned.

Its odd some say its good others not so good. I'm starting to think there maybe something going on with the blend door not closing all the way. Maybe on some cars the actuator doesn't move all the way to the cold position blocking the heater core completely. As far as I can tell with mine it does close but I'm going to reset the system by removing the neg batt cable for 10 mins. This will cause all the modules to reset including the HVAC doors.

Yesterday we drove 200 miles and it was hot outside. I have a restrictor in the outlet hose from the heater core that stops at least half the flow. The AC was ice cold but when turned off you could feel the vent air was not ambient air. At least 15 deegrees warmer. I ordered a shut off valve, once here i'll install it and take pictures. The only available manual shut off valve thats made of metal and durable I can find is 5/8 inch hose size. So I either need to use 5/8-3/4 hose adapters OR put it in the return line that is 5/8. It will still work using the return line but I like the idea of blocking the inlet 1st.
Here is the valve https://www.ebay.com/itm/HVAC-Heater...72.m2749.l2649

There's known issues with the blend door. But, I think it was just the early production years.
