HELP! SD card lost in car.

Hey guys, so long I was getting my SD card from my dash cam when it fell, landed in front of the AC vents and then slid under them. Ive also had a credit card slide further in than I was expecting, thought I was going to lose that.

Id really like a way to get back there and get my SD card. What pieces do I need to remove to get to it?

And yes you can see that I took the knee pad off but couldnt get that plastic piece behind it off, not sure what all is holding it in or if it even leads back there.

Maybe use a toothpick to fish it out, or straighten out a paperclip?

Use a piece of paper, fold until long and thick enough topush it out one side. Put it I The opposite side and fish it through until it falls into the floor, keeping it at an angle so you hopefully don't push it through the back.

Not sure if I completely understand what your saying. I had a tiny flat head back there and a piece of folded paper but I can't reach the SD card. It looks like there is a small drop off back there.

I'm pretty sure there is a small drop off. I have tried fishing for it but even using the flashlight I can't see the SD card at all.

First, try using a dental mirror or similar to look into the gap. Hint: to illuminate the gap, put a mini flashlight as close to your eyeball as possible and point it at the mirror. Now the light and your line of sight will be nearly the same. Move the mirror around until you see down the gap.

Once you have spotted the card, use the shop vac. If that doesn't work, try masking tape looped over a thin steel ruler. Unless the card is jammed, a light touch of the tape should pull it out. Avoid jamming it further in...go slow.

That's what she said. Lol, but for real I'll try the tape thing. Unfortunately the drop off back there makes it hard for me to easily fish for it especially with an object that doesn't bend. But I'll see what I can do.

The folded (lengthwise) paper I was using in the above video didn't go all the way back, so I think an SD card is too thick also.

But for now, I think we should all get some black foam to stuff in there

Sorry for shakey camera, at the beginning I tore off some paper about the size of a microsd and shoved it under, that is what I am getting out. Just wanted to make it quick in case you need the card immediately

Well unfortunately that did nothing. I think the micro SD card has fallen further back there them a piece of paper could reach. Also having no luck with tape. Anyway I can take pieces off to get back there?

You can try to remove the center console, here's a video about upgrading the wireless charging pad in the rear that shows you what to do:

Well, that was too much work but I found a short cut. If you pull the carpet out, theres a tiny little gap where you can stick your hands in and feel around. I felt the sd card and pulled it out.

But beware, I have pretty small hands and it was still a tight fit and kinda hurt my hand trying to pull it back out. BUT, I got it.
