Road warrior plus or painter tape?

So I pretty much bought the last 2018 NFG 2SS 1LE on the East coast this week. Planning on on a 4.5hr drive to go pick it up on Monday. Weather could be an issue as far as rain but we'll see, too far off still to tell for sure. I'm worried about the paint getting chipped and was planning on doing a tape job or using road warrior plus before I head home. Once it's here its getting wrapped, but I got to get it home first. So I'm leaning towards blue painters tape covering the whole front end, and the rockers, behind the wheels, etc. Any advice?

Tape the rear quarters in front of the rear tires all the way up to at least the top of the wheel arch.
Even then you might not be safe. I have chips on the top of the rear quarters, above the rear tires on the horizontal surface next to the "C" pillar.

The front tire must have lobbed one way up in the air and it dropped down on top of the rear quarter.

The paint on these cars is weak. If someone was serious, they should do a protective wrap on the entire vehicle.

Go to xpel.com and see if you can order Xpel’s Tracwrap for overnight delivery to your dealer Monday. You can also use the installer locater on the website for your home town and destination town (or somewhere along the way) to see if an installer there stocks the Tracwrap and will sell you a roll.

Besides the whole front bumper cover, headlights and splitter, you should cover the leading edge of the front fenders, the entire hood, the mirrors, the rocker panels up to the crease on the doors, the area in front of the rear wheels to the top of the wheel openings and the “U” (the A pillars and about an 8-inch strip across the header above the windshield).

Don’t skip the hood for the final paint prorection film - the OEM black vinyl chips and nicks easier than the paint, plus the hood color will show through the chips if they didn’t get to bare metal.

Congrats on the car and good luck on a ding-free trip!

The problem with using Road Warrior or the 3M spray on a brand-new car is that the manufacturers recommend waxing the car before using the protectant.

Try to find the yellow 3M tape. The blue tape can leave residue if it gets wet. The yellow tape is automotive masking tape and is ultra low release.

Enjoy your new ride!

Good to know, first time I've heard this, and all the pics I've seen use the blue.
