Factory Air Compressor, No Spare
My new 2017 RS was supposed to come with run flats although I was gifted somehow with special order or the dealer installed aftermarket Adventus wider than stock wheels with Nitto tires. So my car did not come with an air compressor as it was supposed to have run flats- it is noted as deleted on the window sticker. So I went back to the dealer and they ordered me the GM air compressor. Well today my tires were 2 LBS low on air all around so I thought I would try and top them off with the air compressor. It's almost useless! After quite a few minutes of running it I could not even get 1 LB of air in the tires. it's probably good for inflating a basketball or football but not car tires. Anyone else try the crappy air compressor out and find out the same thing? I need to by a new one as with no spare and if I get a flat I will be stranded. Even a hand pump will work better than this air compressor. Or has anyone bought a better aftermarket air compressor for the car power outlet that will work and inflate car tires and not take an hour?

I have a factory air compressor in my 2013 Regal GS and it works well. I was able to put in a few pounds of air without any issue. I never used it on my 2011 2LT/RS. Maybe you got a bad one.

It's not that kind of air pump. I believe it has tire sealer charge inside its for emergency purposes only not for filling tires. with the pressure in the tire it did not release the charge.
drivers will have to take the tire-inflator kit out of their trunk, plug it into the 12-volt socket inside the car and then re-inflate the tire. If the tire was punctured, the inflator can plug up holes in the tread of up to .25 inches in diameter by injecting sealant into the tire. |

Just a FYI, legally dealers cant take OEM wheels/tires off of a new car unless the adjust the window sticker accordingly. One of my friends here bought a RS and it had the 4cyl Camaro wheels and tires on it. Well he asked for his window sticker, the dealer drug their feet getting it to him. When he finally got it he noticed instead of the 18" wheels he should of had the 20" wheels. After jacking with the dealer for 2 weeks and threatening to go to the state new dealer board the dealer finally gave him the correct wheels and tires for his car. |

While your mileage may vary, I can tell you that the mini pump that came with my 2017 ZL1 is capable of filling a tire w/o injecting it with sealant. In fact, the sealant canister isn't even connected to it.
I just aired my tires up after a track day using it. 6lbs per corner. If the one that comes with the other non-RFT models is the same, I would expect similar results. I will state that the threads on the valve stem to hose can grab/slip a little, so it's possible you had an imperfect seal even though it felt tight and that's why it wasn't inflating properly. I had to thread on carefully as it wanted to cross thread. |

Regarding my wheels I love my Adventus wheels and Nitto tires- they came with the car brand new. It's one of the reasons I choose my car. I get compliments everywhere I go- people comment from their open windows at stop lights and signs. I often get asked if it's a ZL1. I say no, it's my 30 MPG commuter that runs on regular gas! The down side is the car looks so fast with the wide wheels- and it's really not. My intention is to get a C7 vert manual 7 speed, sell my WRX and C4- that will be my fast once a week car with my RS my every day "slow" car!

Most auto parts dealers sell air pumps, even Sears. I got a good one from Jegs. High capacity. I also carry a patch kit. I'll go with high performance all season when the run flats wear out, probably the Continentals.

This is an old post. JT58 has since gotten rid of his Camaro for a Corvette convertible!
